“LET'S TAKE THE PROFIT OUT OF HEALTHCARE”
&
BUILD SOCIALIZED/UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE ”

With all the lies and misinformation around health care reform, I as a health care professional for over 24 years, working on the ground level as a EMS worker, decided to put out a perspective.
Let's look at the history of the term “Socialized Medicine”which first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s,the chairman of Preventive Medicine Section of the American Medical Association was quoted in the praising socialized medicine as a way to discover disease in its incipiency. Universal health care and a National health insurance were first proposed by President Theodore Roosevelt and later championed by Franklin D Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman.
Lets look at the word "Socialized" which simply put means "For people", which governments are suppose to be about.
The government already runs socialized public libraries, police and fire departments, which I am part of The Emergency Medical Division. I've taken patients from their homes, schools and jobs regardless of their social status or ability to pay.
The Emergency Rooms have become poor people's clinics with no real follow-up. 18,314 people die in U.S. each year because they lack preventive services, a timely diagnosis or appropriate care.
If there was a “public option or 'socialized” system like in Canada ,Europe and other develop economies we wouldn't have these problems.
Let's also take a look at the administrative costs of health care such as paper work review and insurance underwriting a study done in 2003 found that cost in The United States accounted for a 31% expense, as compared to a 16.7% in Canada.
The socialized/public option, the right reform would:
1. Put working and middle class people before the insurance companies.
2. Lower the health care cost though better treatment with follow up and prevention.
3. End discrimination against Americans with preexisting conditions.
Like Bill Maher said “Certain things shouldn't be based on money, "Health Care" is one of them.
